Ireland’s Derval O’Rourke made an impressive start to her indoor season on Monday night at the Vienna Indoor Classic.
The Leevale AC star finished second to Yvette Lewis of the United States in the final of the 60 metres hurdles in 8.16 seconds.
The Cork athlete has already been preselected by Athletics Ireland to compete in the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul from 9-11 March.
Claire Bergin ran sensationally in Austria to record two personal bests on the night.
Bergin clocked 24.50 to finish second in the 200m, while the Dundrum runner finished fourth in the 400m in 54.57.
UCC’S Orla Drumm also recorded an indoor best, finishing second in the 1500m in 4:18.61. Compatriot Sara Louise Tracy claimed fifth in the same race in another personal best time of 4:21.91.
Olympian Paul Hession, returning from a training camp in South Africa, kicked off his season in the 60m at the London Indoor Games. The Athenry sprinter clocked 6.95 at the London Indoor Games at Lee Valley.
