Dundrum AC apologise for athlete oversight

Dundrum South Dublin AC have confirmed that Siofra Cleirigh-Buttner, who was disqualified from the Junior event at the National Junior Cross-Country, was added to the Junior Girls team after other athletes who had been entered were unavailable to race.

After winning the race by 45 seconds, Cleirigh-Buttner was deemed ineligible as she was too young and this was a fact not noticed by Dundrum South Dublin AC upon entering the athlete.

The Club have apologised to the Athletics Association of Ireland for this situation having arisen, to the organisers on the ground of what was a superbly run event and indeed to Siofra herself, who it should be noted was untroubled in an excellent performance.
