Cragg out of 5,000 metres

Ireland’s Alistair Cragg was unable to relive past glories and secure a place in the final of the 5,000m at the World Championships in Berlin tonight.
The Clonliffe Harriers runner finished 13th in a time of 13.46.34, well off his personal best.
The former European indoor silver medallist looked comfortable during the early stages in what was a slow and steady race.
With five laps left Cragg began to drop towards the back of the pack and with three laps left he fell off the pace completely as the leading group made their burst for home.
The heat was won by Uganda’s Moses Kipsiro in a season’s best time of 13.22.98.
