Silver for Mageean at World Youths

Ciara Mageean of Lisburn AC has won a silver medal in the 800m at the World Youth Championships in Sudtirol in Italy.
Mageean also set a new Irish junior record in running 2:03.07, which surpassed her previous mark of 2:05.38.
Kenya's Cherono Koech won the race in 2:01.67 in a championship record with Britain's Rowena Cole on 2:03.83 placing third.
Mageean will be back in the track next week when she competes in 1,500m at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tampere, Finland.
