Loughnane 17th in walk final

Olive Loughnane was the only Irish athlete in action today at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka; the Loughrea walker finished seventeenth in the 20km final.
Her position was secured a time of 1.36.00.
The race was won by Russian Olga Kaniskina with a time of 1.30.09; she was followed home by fellow Russian Tatyana Shemyakina who finished in 1.30.42.
The last of the Irish team compete in the Men’s 50km Race Walking Final at midnight tonight (Friday). Both Jamie Costin and Colin Griffin will compete in the final to bring to a close Ireland's involvement in what has already been an excellent championships for the Irish team.
