Appeal against Gillick's victory fails

An appeal jury at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham have rejected a British appeal into David Gillick's victory in the semi-final of the 400 metres.

The British team were unhappy about a tussell between Gillick and Robert Tobin, during the semi-final which saw the Irishman advance as winner and earn a prime lane in today's final.

Gillick came through strongly in the closing stages of the race, edging out Tobin whom he beat by just 0.03sec in 46.16sec.
