Jamaica's Asafa Powell today cruised to Commonwealth Games gold in the 100 metres in Melbourne.
The world record holder claimed his first medal at a major championships with consummate ease in a time of 10.03 seconds on a breezy evening at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Nigeria's Soji Fasuba took silver with Trinidad's Marc Burns the bronze.
Powell, 23, only finished fifth in the Olympic final in Athens in 2004 and injury prevented him from competing at last year's world championships in Helsinki.
