Saturday's Live Sport

Saturday's usual plethora of soccer matches in Ireland and cross-channel take place today. In tandem with that, the November international series kicks-off the autumn rugby action.

SOCCER:

There are six games in a full schedule of action in the League of Ireland First Division this Saturday. All half dozen games kick-off at 7.45pm.

The Barclays Premier League serves up five ties this Saturday afternoon. Four of these are at the traditional 3 o'clock kick-off time, with one late evening kick-off at 5.30pm. The late tie sees Mick McCarthy's Wolverhampton Wanderers host the on-fire Arsenal. Read reports from around the grounds here.

In the Coca-Cola Championship there were ten games down for decision. The Welsh 'El Classico' was contested between Swansea and Cardiff City in the early kick-off. Swansea ran out 3-2 winners in the Liberty Stadium. The other nine contests got the ball rolling at 3.00pm.

In Scotland, there were five games on the cards. Rangers beat St Mirren, while the game of the day north of the English border was the Edinburgh derby between Hearts and Hibernian at 12.45pm. However, it turned out to be far from a sizzler as both sides played out a 0-0 draw. Celtic are not in action until tomorrow, when they face Falkirk at 12.45pm.

RUGBY:

The November internationals are finally upon us this Saturday. The first full international game of the series was between old-foes and bitter rivals England and Australia at Twickenham. The Wallabies ran out deserving 9-18 winners in an entertaining clash. Read the full report here.

This was followed by the rugby purists dream tie, Wales went down to New Zealand in an entertaining game in Cardiff.

Domestically, there were seven games in the AIB Cup Round 3. We have the full-time scores below. There was also a solitary game in the AIB League Division 3 where Naas squared-up to Ards - result below.

GOLF:

MOTORSPORT:

The motorsport action this weekend focuses on MotoGP, with the racing heading to Valencia, Spain. Aussie Casey Stoner takes pole for Sunday, clocking a fastest qualifying time of 1min32s.256seconds in Final Qualifying. Second is Spaniard Dani Pedrosa and third is fellow Spaniard Jorge Lorenza. Overall World Championship leader Valentino Rossi lies fourth going into the heat of battle tomorrow. For the full story click here.

BOXING:

The sweet science is all about one fight today. David v Goliath or David Haye v Nikolay Valuev for the WBA heavyweight title. This monster fight takes place in Nuremberg, Germany. For those of you without an unnamed pay-per-view broadcaster being beamed directly into your living rooms, we will have the result from Germany here later on.
