GAA

The Gaelic Grounds in Limerick played host to the Allianz National Hurling League Division 1 and 2 finals today.

Liam Sheedy's Tipperary saw off Ger Loughane's Galway in the Division 1 decider with Tipperary running out 3-18 to 3-16 winners.

In the Division 2 final, Carlow were beaten by Westmeath 2-12 to 0-12.

There was important final round action in Divisions 2, 3 and 4 of the Allianz National Football League today. See below for the results.

In the eircom League of Ireland Premier Division, Drogheda United host Bohemians at 7.00. Click here for the latest score.

In the Barclays Premier League, Aston Villa beat Birmingham City 5-1 in the Birmingham derby. Roy Keane's Sunderland were beaten 2-0 by local rivals Newcastle United and in the 4.00pm kick-off Manchester City beat 10-man Portsmouth 3-1.

Rangers beat St Johnstone 4-3 on penalties in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup after the match had ended 1-1, while Dundee United drew 1-1 with Hibernian in the league.

Snooker

Today is the second day of play at the World Snnoker Championship in Sheffield, with Joe Swail, Michael Judge and Mark Allen in action at the Crucible.
