Bohemians 5-0 Longford Town
Friday, 11 May 2007 22:35It was all too easy for Bohemians as they kept on the pressure at the summit with an easy win over Longford Town at Dalymount Park.
Despite a decent unbeaten run Sean Connor's team had looked a little out of sorts recently and they came into this game with poor goalscoring record.
However Longford found Bohs in top notch form and the hosts ace marksman Glen Crowe brought his tally for the season from two to five goals.
Longford looked to be in some trouble from as early as six minutes in, Darren Mansaram dashed after a Kevin Hunt pass and drew Michael Dempsey from the goal.
However Mansaram fluffed his shot and midfielder Chris Kingsberry could do no better in the seconds which followed, as Kevin Doherty put him under pressure.
David Mooney threatened at the opposite goal seven minutes later but there was only going to one winner on this occasion.
The Bohs opener arrived after some persistent play from Conor Powell, he shot the ball into the path of Glen Crowe who converted from seven yards.
There was only one team in this game, and Bohs added to their tally when Owen Heary cut in from the right and crossed.
This time Crowe planted a powerful header to the Longford net.
Bohs third goal arrived on 52 minutes when John Paul Kelly got on the end of a swirling ball from Heary.
The defending from Longford was getting worse from by the minute and a pile of players could have scored the fourth goal of the night.
Heary strolled from defence up the pitch in possession and crossed to the far post where Kelly kept the ball in play, and Crowe poked it home.
Goal number five came from Stephen Rice on the break with ninety seconds left.
