McShane is an injury doubt for Ireland

Paul McShane is an injury doubt for the Republic of Ireland ahead of Saturday's European qualifier with Wales at Croke Park.

The West Brom centre-half is struggling to overcome ankle ligament damage and only joined his team mates Dublin this morning.

The Wicklowman sustained the injury in the Hawthorns 1-1 draw with Birmingham over the weekend.

The Ireland squad will be put through their paces at the match venue this evening, and it is not yet known if McShane will take part in the training session.

Captain Robbie Keane and Manchester United's John O'Shea also both linked-up with the side today after being involved in last night's FA Cup quarter-finals.

Ireland lie third in their group behind Germany and the Czech Republic.
