Trio pull out of Ireland squad

Injury has forced Shane Horgan, Rob Kearney and John Kelly to withdraw from the Irish training squad ahead of the Six Nations opener.

The trio have been replaced by Danny Riordan of Connacht, Leinster's Kieran Lewis and David Quinlan of Northampton.

Horgan is facing four to six weeks on the sidelines after knee surgery yesterday. The condition of both Kearney and Kelly will be assessed at the end of the week.

Malcolm O'Kelly, who also suffered a knee injury playing for Leinster on Friday night will be assessed by Irish medics today.

A session planned for today had to be cancelled with 15 players in all unable to take part as a result of knocks picked up over the weekend.
