Calzaghe to meet reality star

Super-middleweight world champion Joe Calzaghe will make his next defence against reality television star Peter Manfredo Jr.

Manfredo, runner-up in the first series of American TV boxing show The Contender, will take on Calzaghe at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Saturday, March 3 after promoter Frank Warren confirmed the fight today.

Welshman Calzaghe, 34, will be aiming to stretch his 100% 13-year record to 43 victories.

Manfredo, the 26-year-old son of a former world kickboxing champion, has lost three of his 29 fights, with 12 of his 26 victories coming inside the distance.

But he has never fought in the same class as WBO and IBF champion Calzaghe, who out-pointed Sakio Bika in his last outing at Manchester's MEN Arena in October following his career-best victory over IBF world champion Jeff Lacy at the same venue in March.
