Taylor jets out to New Delhi

European champion Katie Taylor jetted out to India yesterday ahead of the fourth Women's World Championships which will begin with next Friday's weigh-in in New Delhi.

Boxing is due to commence on Saturday.

Taylor, from the St Fergal's club in Bray, Co Wicklow, who won her second European title on the trot last September, will have her dad and coach Peter in her corner.

Taylor, ranked number one in the world at lightweight, will be  joined in New Delhi by team manager John McCormack (St Saviours OBA), physio Mary Louise Ryan and Al Morris (R&J). They will hook up with the Irishwoman next Thursday.

Over 170 boxers representing 29 nations will be competing in New Delhi in 13 weight categories. The championships will conclude on 24 November.
