Army shine at Kill International
Monday, 6 November 2006 09:05The Minister for Defence had a good night at the Kill International with three Army Equitation School horses finishing in the top six of the Cannon Kirk Homes Grand Prix.
Capt. Shane Carey had three horses at the Kildare venue, and brought one of them into the winner's enclosure and one into fourth place overall.
The Limerick-born rider had a mistake at the second last fence on the 15 horse jump-off course with African Drum, but corrected himself with Lismakin, which took fourth place, and Hands Free, whose time of 32.30 proved unbeatable.
Course buillder Tom Holden's planks at the second last caught out not only Carey on his first foray, but also Shane Breen, Christian Coyle, and Paul O'Shea, while Lisa O'Farrell was unfortunate to have a fall at the final fence.
