Llewellyn to join Welsh squad

Wrexham midfielder Chris Llewellyn will join up with Wales today after becoming the latest addition to John Toshack's depleted squad for their Euro 2008 double header.

Llewellyn, 27, last played for his country two years ago under Mark Hughes, but his form with the Racecourse club was checked by assistant boss Roy Evans last week as Wales prepared themselves for what has been an expected lengthy injury list.

Wales, who had faint hopes that captain Ryan Giggs might make the second of the two home internationals next Wednesday in Cardiff against Cyprus, discovered yesterday that would not be the case as Manchester United formally withdrew the 32-year-old from the party.

Earlier James Collins was also ruled out by West Ham. Collins aggravated a groin injury in the UEFA Cup defeat in Palermo last week, missed Sunday's defeat by Reading and is now sidelined for a fortnight.

Wales face Slovakia at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, and Toshack has already been forced to add MK Dons defender Craig Morgan and Yeovil midfielder Arron Davies to the squad.
