Sheffield United v Middlesbrough team news

Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny and striker Danny Webber could return for tomorrow's Premiership clash with Middlesbrough at Bramall Lane.

Both players have missed the last three matches with thigh and hamstring injuries respectively, but are on the brink of being fully fit again.

Striker Steve Kabba is poised to make his first start this season, while centre-back Craig Short and midfielder Nick Montgomery are also close to a comeback after recent injury problems.

Middlesbrough captain George Boateng (knee) and winger Stewart Downing (groin) are poised to return from injury.

With just one win from six league matches, new boss Gareth Southgate may opt to return to a more attacking 4-4-2 formation against the struggling Blades, meaning a return to the starting XI for Mark Viduka.

Malcolm Christie suffered an ankle injury in midweek and will not travel, while Julio Arca (broken foot) and Chris Riggott (knee ligaments) are still sidelined.

Middlesbrough squad: Schwarzer, Davies, Taylor, Woodgate, Pogatetz, Boateng, Rochemback, Parnaby, Downing, Viduka, Yakubu, Turnbull, Bates, Morrison, Mendieta, Euell, Maccarone.

Sheffield United squad: Kenny, Bennett, Bromby, Unsworth, Davis, Morgan, Short, Sommeil, Armstrong, Leigertwood, Kozluk, Jagielka, Ifill, Gillespie, A Quinn, Hulse, Akinbiyi, Nade, Kazim-Richards, Kabba, Webber, Montgomery.
