Boa Morte is sidelined for six weeks

Fulham have confirmed Luis Boa Morte will be sidelined for six weeks with a fractured cheekbone.

Boa Morte sustained the injury during a clash of heads with team-mate Heidar Helguson in Sunday's goalless draw at Tottenham.

Fulham boss Chris Coleman had hoped the Portuguese winger would be able to play wearing a mask but the severity of the damage has prevented an early return.

'Boa is out for about six weeks and we can't even get a mask to protect him because of the extent of the injury,' he said. 'It's quite deep set, so there's nothing we can do about it.'

The news is the latest injury blow to Coleman who has a raft of players in the treatment room just five games into the season.

Papa Bouba Diop, Jimmy Bullard, Ahmad Elrich, Simon Elliott, Mark Pembridge and Philippe Christanval are unavailable and will miss tonight's Carling Cup clash with Wycombe.

But influential midfielder Diop and the versatile Christanval should be back for Saturday's clash with Chelsea.

'Bouba won't be ready for tonight's game and Simon Elliott, Mark Pembridge and Philippe Christanval are still out,' said Coleman.
