Halicarnassus out to enhance reputation

Mick Channon's unbeaten Halicarnassus features among the 16 confirmations for the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

The Cape Cross colt was last seen winning the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket in impressive fashion and looks a horse of some potential.

The disappointing favourite that day was the Michael Jarvis-trained Champlain, who could attempt to get back to winning ways.

Aidan O'Brien has six possibles, headed by Eagle Mountain, a close second to Vital Equine in the Champagne Stakes at York having previously run the brilliant Teofilo to a head at the Curragh.

The Ballydoyle maestro could also run Chinese Whisper, well-backed for the Derby after winning a Galway maiden on his last start. Kevin Ryan has two possibles in the shape of Gweebarra and Prince Golan, while Mark Johnston can call on Champery and Kirklees.
