Fans unhappy with Thurles decision

GAA fans have reacted furiously to the GAA's decision to play two of the Guinness SHC quarter-finals on a Saturday night at Semple Stadium in Thurles.

Cork have been drawn to play Limerick at 5.15pm on Saturday 22 July, with that game followed by a re-match of last year's semi-final between Galway and Kilkenny at 7.00pm.

The other SHC quarter-finals between Tipp and Waterford and Clare and Wexford will be in Croke Park the following day.

The reason Croke Park cannot be used the following week is that the stadium is hosting a Billy Joel concert.

But with four counties having to share the Thurles venue, which accomodates just over 50,000, each of the participating counties will only get about 11,000 tickets each.
