Byrne racks up century in Shels win

Jason Byrne hit his century of goals for Shelbourne tonight as the Dublin club eased into the semi-finals of the League Cup after a 4-1 victory over Finn Harps.

Shels quickly exorcised the ghost of their 3-0 defeat in Odense by taking a third-minute lead.

Stuart Byrne fluffed his shot from Owen Heary's cross, but the ball broke for Jason Byrne to score.

Shels effectively killed off the game on 59 minutes when Byrne headed home his second from Dave Rogers' super cross.

Substitutes Glen Crowe, on 67 minutes, and Greg O'Halloran, with his first goal for the club six minutes later, completed the rout.

Chris Malseed showed good feet to shoot home Harps' consolation goal four minutes from time.
