Cheyrou leaves Liverpool for Rennes

Liverpool have offloaded misfit midfielder Bruno Cheyrou to French side Rennes.

The former France international, 28, spent the past two seasons on loan to Marseille and, more recently, Bordeaux.

But he has now left Anfield on a permanent basis after Rennes reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer.

Rennes will present Cheyrou to the media this lunchtime.

Cheyrou was a £4.5million signing from Lille by former Reds boss Gerard Houllier in June 2002 but struggled to impose himself in the Barclays Premiership.

In all, he made 48 appearances for Liverpool, scoring five goals.
