Drogheda United show racism the red card

FAI Cup holders, All Ireland Setanta Cup Champions and eircom League leaders Drogheda United are launching an anti-racism initiative.

Manager Paul Doolin along with players Shane Robinson, Declan O'Brien, Kemi Koba of Drogheda United ladies and Lukasz Wawrzyniak (Manager and captain of the Brian Kerr Intercontinental League Champions Poland) will be in attendance at United Park tomorrow.

School students from around Drogheda will join local legends in a question and answer forum.

Doolin said: 'There is no place for racism in football or in society.  We are a club going forward and we want everyone to be welcome in our grounds. We are delighted to be part of this initiative.'

Robinson added: 'As a member of the PFAI Anti-racism committee, our association are one of the driving forces behind this campaign.  We recognise the importance of the players role in delivering the anti-racism message through sport and education.

'The PFAI look forward to developing future partnerships with the rest of the clubs in the eircom League.'

Show Racism the Red Card is and education and sport partnership involving the three players unions, PFAI, IRUPA and GPA with the ASTI, TUI and INTO.

It aims to produce education resources, which harness the high profile of sports personalities to deliver an anti-racism message.

Meanwhile, tickets for Friday's Carlsberg FAI Cup tie away to Limerick FC are on sale at the Drog Shop at Madame Le Worthy's Shop Street Drogheda.

Kick off at Hogan Park on Friday night is 8.00pm.
