Sionko signs for Rangers

Czech Republic midfielder Libor Sionko has completed his move to Rangers.

The former Austria Vienna player has penned a three-year deal with the Light Blues after passing a medical earlier today.

The 29-year-old becomes the second signing for new Rangers boss Paul Le Guen era after the capture of Dean Furman from Chelsea last week.

Now Sionko, who is on standby for the Czech World Cup squad along with Hearts midfielder Rudi Skacel, cannot wait to launch his Rangers career next season.

And he insists, despite interest in his services from elsewhere, his heart was set on Glasgow after hearing of the Gers' offer.

Sionko told the club's official website: "It is a great
privilege to join Rangers and I am eager to begin my new life in Scotland.

"I know I have signed for a massive club with many supporters and I can't wait to play in front of them at Ibrox next season.

"I had many offers from a number of top teams, but, once I learned Rangers were interested, my mind was made up.

"I am also looking forward to working with Paul Le Guen, he is a very experienced manager and can help me develop as a player."

Former Lyon boss Le Guen was delighted to have captured a player whose progress he had been tracking for years.

He added: "Libor is a player I have known about for a few years and I am delighted he will be joining me at Rangers next season.

"He has signed a three-year contract and I look forward to working with him during that time. I am sure he can add something to the Rangers team."

Sionko has signed on a Bosman deal with the Glasgow giants after helping Austria Vienna to the league championship.
