Red Hand's McGinley making rapid recovery
Tuesday, 9 May 2006 13:37Enda McGinley could hand Tyrone a massive boost by making an earlier than expected return to inter-county action.
The double All-Ireland winning attacker is making rapid progress in his recovery from cruciate and medial ligament injuries sustained last October, featuring as a substitute in a club championship game at the weekend.
McGinley didn't play for Errigal Ciaran in the clash with Trillick, but his presence on the bench suggests he isn't far away from a return to the fray.
The Ulster Championship clash with Derry on May 28 will come too early for the 25-year-old, but he could yet feature in the provincial series, should the All-Ireland champions progress to the semi-finals.
Peter Canavan was in sparkling form for Errigal, hitting 2-5 in the big SFC win, but Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has insisted that there is no prospect of the All-Ireland winning captain coming out of retirement.
There had been speculation that Canavan may don the county colours once again following the loss of Brian McGuigan with a broken leg.
Manager Harte was left with additional concerns following a big programme of club championship games over the weekend.
Defender Eoghan Bradley received a straight red card in Killyclogher's win over Pomeroy, and it's unclear whether he will be ruled out of inter-county football as well as league action.
Mickey Murphy lasted just ten minutes of Galbally's defeat by Drumquin before being forced out of the action with a recurrence of a thigh injury.
