Song Newbury performance in the balance

Soviet Song's chances of being ready to run in Saturday week's Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury are described as 50-50.

Connections of the multiple Group One-winning mare, trained by James Fanshawe, are still hoping she will be able to take her chance in the Group One contest over a mile.

"She's fine. I saw her on Sunday and she's looking well," said Matthew Budden, racing manager to owner-breeders the Elite Racing Club.

"She's coming together but it's still pretty much 50-50 whether she will get there at the moment. We might run out of time but James has not written it off yet and we've got our fingers crossed.

"There's the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes in Ireland a week later but if we had the choice we'd like to take her to Newbury if she was ready in time and there are obviously other races coming up as well.
