Laois board to intervene in football row

The Laois County Board is due to meet today in order to resolve what appears to be an ugly row in the county football scene.

According to reports, Donie Brennan has been dropped from the Under-21 squad for next Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final because he travelled with the senior team to last Sunday's league semi-final in Killarney, against the orders of the Under-21 selectors.

Reports also claim that other Under-21 players who travelled with the senior squad - the two Colm Kellys (Stradbally and St Jospeh's) - have been told that while they will remain part of the Under-21 panel, they will not be starting against Cork on Sunday.

There had been an agreement with Mick O'Dwyer and the senior squad that the Under-21 players would not be used, however they were called up because of injuries to several senior players.
