Freeman strike gives Vikings victory

Dublin City booked their place in the next round of the eircom League Cup thanks to a 90th minute goal from David Freeman, which gave them a 2-1 victory over Kildare County.

Robbie Collins opened the scoring in the 27th minute, heading home from Damien Brennan's inviting cross.

Mick O'Donnell, Paul Shiels and David McGill wasted great chances to double their lead and paid for their wastefulness when Derek Delaney slammed home with five minutes to go.

But Freeman was to help the Vikings avoid an unwanted 30 minutes of extra time when he headed home from a rebound in the final seconds.
