Rovers grab all the points in Kildare

Brendan Kennedy was sent off as Shamrock Rovers defeated Kildare County 3-0 tonight in the eircom League First Division.

Kennedy hauled Willie Doyle down in the 15th minute, leaving the referee with no choice other than to award a penalty and send the Kildare keeper off. Doyle scored the resulting penalty.

The home side found themselves further behind in the 31st minute when David O'Connor picked out Tadgh Purcell with an excellent cross and the former Kilkenny striker scored from close range.

Rovers made sure of victory in the 55th minute a when mistakes by Graham Gibbs and Mark Scoyne presented Willie Doyle with an empty net and the Rovers striker netted his second goal of the game.
