Wexford narrowly defeat Royals

Wexford secured their first win in NFL Division 1B as a 37th-minute goal from former captain John Hudson helped them to a 1-15 to 2-11 win over Meath.

Ger Robinson goaled twice in the opening five minutes - his second worked from a quickly taken free - to push Meath into a 2-04 to 0-03 lead.

Trailing by five points at the break, Wexford boss Paul Bealin introduced Hudson and Redmond Barry, the Wexford GAA Supporters' Player of 2005, into the fray. Hudson's goal came at a crucial time and the Model men stood firm thanks to vital points from Matty Forde, Ciaran Deely and Paddy Colfer.
