Mounthenry a good bet to complete treble

Thurles stages a seven race card on Thursday where the first race is due off at 2.40.

The ¤75,000 Grade 2 Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle is the feature event with Charles Byrnes' Mounthenry likely to take some beating.

The son of Flemisfirth bids to complete a hat-trick of wins here following wins at Limerick and Punchestown recently, both wins gained at the expense of very capable rivals.

Should Mounthenry fail to reproduce his form, best of the rest looks to be Sir Overbury, a game winner at Punchestown recently, while Oscar's Advance bids to overcome a disappointing effort at Limerick over Christmas.

Christy Roche's Line Ball looks a bet in the CJ Sheran Ltd Maiden Hurdle, under Tony McCoy.

A bumper winner on his debut at Punchestown in November, the Good Thyne gelding was subsequently beaten at Leopardstown over Christmas but takes a drop in class here.

Main dangers include Mick Halford's Cosmo King and Sean Treacy's Coolgreaney, both placed on their last starts.

The concluding Mid Tipp Mart Ladies Bumper sees Willie Mullins' highly regarded Scotsirish bidding to recoup some of the losses incurred when beaten at Gowran recently.

The point to point winning son of Zaffaran looks to have found a winning opportunity here although the market should provide clues to the chances of some of his unexposed rivals.
