Farley signs fresh deal with Connacht
Wednesday, 8 March 2006 22:57Connacht, who face Newcastle Falcons in the quarter-finals of the European Challenge Cup later this month, have been given a timely boost with the announcement that skipper Andrew Farley has signed a new two-year deal.
Farley, a former Australian U-21, has been one of Connacht's best signings, having been drafted in by coach Michael Bradley shortly after he took over almost three seasons ago.
Farley, who will be Irish-qualified this June, was made skipper of the side after his first season at the Sportsground.
He was signed initially on a one-year deal from Swansea and was then offered a two-year deal after becoming an instant success.
It is understood that French side Narbonne, who Connacht played regularly in the past few years, were keen to sign him, while there was also interest from Scotland.
"I am delighted to have agreed a new two-year term with Connacht. I have really enjoyed my rugby since I came and can see a bright future for us," he said.
"We have been very unlucky this season with several tight decisions going against us, but we are developing a strong side and I am delighted that I am going to be part of it," added the 25 year old.
