Gregory in line for Hungary job

Former Aston Villa boss John Gregory could be set to make a surprise return to management with Hungary's national team.

The Magyars are looking for a new boss after Lothar Matthaus departed following his failure to reach this summer's World Cup finals.

Gregory, 51, has also been in charge at Portsmouth, Plymouth, Wycombe and Derby - leaving the Rams on acrimonious terms in March 2003.

He told the Daily Telegraph: "Talks are ongoing and there could be something happening in the next 10 days."

England are due to play Hungary in a World Cup warm-up at Wembley on May 30.
