Lilywhites surprise Armagh in Crossmaglen

John Doyle kicked seven points as Kildare shocked Division One champions Armagh by 0-12 0-10 on the opening day of the 2006 league.

The Lilywhites forward displayed his placed ball brilliance in a scrappy game. Captain Stephen McDonnell led the Armagh scoring, while a John McEntee point left the sides locked at 0-06 apiece at the break.

Armagh lost midfielder Andy Mallon to injury in the second half and three consecutive points from Adrian Kelly, Doyle and midfielder Dermot Earley, who hit another from play on 28 minutes, secured an encouraging away win for new Kildare boss John Crofton.
