Song tuning up nicely for new term.

James Fanshawe has delivered an upbeat winter assessment on his star filly Soviet Song.

The six-year-old had a bit of a stop-start campaign last term but Fanshawe hopes to have a clear run at the major Group One events in 2006.

"She's very well at the moment," he said.

"After she finished second to Proclamation in the Sussex Stakes she got a cold and then she had a problem with her foot, so we've left the shoes off her purposefully.

"But she's been turned out and she looks bright and well at the moment. Her shoes will go back on next week and we'll take it away from there."

Soviet Song was a multiple Group One winner in 2004.
