Henman crashes out in Doha

Tim Henman's promising start to 2006 came to an abrupt end in the second round of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha today.

Henman looked to have put a miserable 2005 behind him with a straight-sets victory over third seed Richard Gasquet in the previous round.

However, the British number one was unable to build on that success today as he lost 6-2 7-6 to Tommy Haas.

Haas dominated the opening set and, although the second was a tighter affair, the German prevailed 7/5 in the tie-break to advance to the quarter-finals.
