Leopardstown welcome new stables

Prior to the last flat meeting of the year at Leopardstown on Sunday, a new stable yard facility was opened at the Foxrock venue.

The new Stable Yard comprises of the refurbishment of the existing stables, the building of new stables and the addition of a new over night yard.

This brings the total number of stables from 120 to 140. Modern state of the art Veterinary facilities have also been built and a new enlarged and improved canteen. The Complex is being monitored by a newly installed security system.

Commenting on the facilities Dan Kirwan Stable Staff Representative said: "Stable staff are delighted with the brand new canteen and stable yard complex and we would like to thank Leopardstown Racecourse and Horse Racing Ireland for providing a modern, top class facility for stable staff and their horses - probably one of the best in the racing world."

Matt O Dwyer, General Manager of Leopardstown said: "The completion of the stable block on time, on budget and to such a high standard bodes well for the rest of the Leopardstown development.

"I would like to thank the various sections of the Industry for their cooperation and patience during the construction of the facility. We are delighted with the response to the works carried out here and appreciate the key role that is played by stable staff in a day's racing."
