Reo-Coker extends West Ham contract
Monday, 3 October 2005 08:57England U-21 captain Nigel Reo-Coker has signed a new five-year contract with West Ham.
Reo-Coker, who joined the Hammers from MK Dons last January, is committed to Upton Park until at least 2010 and becomes the latest youngster to pledge his future to the club.
Manager Alan Pardew has been working hard since West Ham won promotion to tie his rising stars to long-term deals and Reo-Coker follows Marlon Harewood, Anton Ferdinand and Matthew Etherington in putting pen to paper.
Reo-Coker has made a blistering start to life in the top flight.
He scored with a wonderful long-range strike against Blackburn on the opening day of the season and his driving runs from midfield have helped the Hammers make a positive start to the season.
Reo-Coker was the youngest captain ever in the Championship when he led West Ham to victory in the play-offs and Peter Taylor rewarded him with the England U-21 captaincy.
