Bouma has his sights set on Europe

Wilfred Bouma hopes to spur Aston Villa on to Champions League qualification following his £3.5million move from PSV Eindhoven.

The 27-year-old, who can operate as a left-back, centre-back or midfielder, is a regular international for Holland and has agreed a three-year contract with the midlands club.

The player's agent Ger Lagendijk told PA Sport: "The English league is one of the best competitions. Aston Villa is a big name in Holland and all over Europe, they're building a new team and he wants to be part of it.

"He wants to try to get into the Champions League next season and get into
second or third position."
