Shnaider keen on Davidson for Jordan

Midland owner Alex Shnaider is keen for Anthony Davidson to join his Jordan revolution and believes the Englishman could be the man to lift them off the bottom of the pile.

Jordan have endured a tough two seasons since the heady days of a championship challenge in 1999 and reached a new low this year when Minardi moved on to level terms at the back of the grid.

But the team will sport a new look in 2006 when Midland's rebranding is finally completed after their takeover last winter.

Canadian businessman Shnaider has grand ambitions for the team and believes Davidson's experience of turning BAR into credible challengers would be vital for Midland's plans.

Shnaider, who is in negotiations with BAR tester Davidson over a race seat next year, said: "We are in discussions with a few drivers and Anthony is one of the drivers that we are talking to."

"He is a very talented driver, he knows how to develop a car very well, he has a lot of testing experience with a very good team, BAR, and therefore we are talking to him. And he very much wants to race."
