Allardyce plays waiting game

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is determined to remain patient in his ongoing bid to bring in new faces.

Despite completing the signing of Mexico striker Jared Borgetti, Allardyce has been left with a feeling of frustration in the transfer market.

He said: "I am trying hard not to panic or become too desperate. I do want to pursue a number of players of the right quality to take the club into a very exciting but difficult season. But I have to resist the temptation to take players just for the sake of it."

Allardyce will be without central defender Bruno N'Gotty for the opening game of the season against Aston Villa on Saturday as the Frenchman is suspended.
