Ambrose signs for Charlton from Newcastle
Friday, 8 July 2005 17:22Charlton have signed England Under-21 midfielder Darren Ambrose from Newcastle on a four-year contract.
The 21-year-old joins the Addicks for an undisclosed fee after failing to hold down a first-team place at St James' Park following his £1million move from Ipswich in March 2003.
Ambrose, who made 29 of his 56 appearances for the Magpies off the bench, will link up with another former Ipswich player at The Valley - striker Darren Bent having joined the south London club earlier in the summer.
