Budweiser continue Derby association

With this year's renewal of the Irish Derby seeing Budweiser celebrating its 20th year sponsoring the Irish Derby, the group has announced its continued support for the Classic up until 2007.

This year's contest on June 26 will be the 140th running of the race and could see Epsom hero Motivator clash with French Derby runner-up Hurricane Run.

The mile-and-a-half Curragh contest is Ireland's richest race, with a total prize fund of E1.3 million.

With Anheuser-Busch's support, the Budweiser Irish Derby has become one of the most prestigious horse races in Europe from both a sporting and social aspect," said Curragh chairman Michael Osborne.

"With this new agreement the Curragh can continue to provide an incredible for all our guests.

Andrew Day, vice-president and managing director of Europe Anheuser-Busch International, added: "Budweiser has been proud to be a part of the Derby for 20 years and will remain committed to providing a first-class event for Irish people to enjoy."
