Olsen considering new role

Denmark coach Morten Olsen is considering a future as sporting director of a European club when his contract with the national squad ends next year.

"I have the possibility to be sporting director of a European club, and it's definitely a job I'm considering," Olsen told Danish daily BT.

Denmark have been struggling in their 2006 World Cup qualifying group with just nine points from seven matches. The 1992 European Champions are fourth in Group Two, trailing leaders Ukraine by eight points with five matches left.

Despite lacklustre results the Danish Football Association (DBU) have said they want the 55-year-old Olsen to sign an extension to his contract.

Olsen said his decision would have nothing to do with whether Denmark reach next year's finals in Germany.

"I have a few approaches from clubs with the aim to start this summer, but I want to finish my work with the national squad," Olsen said.

Denmark play a friendly away to Finland on June 2 before hosting Albania in Copenhagen on June 8 in a World Cup qualifier.
