Soviet to bypass Ridgewood
Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:56Soviet Song will not be defending the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday next.
The five-year-old mare has recovered from an infection which forced her to miss last weekend's Lockinge Stakes but connections are not going to rush her back into action in the Group Two contest.
"She's not running on Saturday. She has scoped clean but the race comes too quick after her infection," said trainer James Fanshawe today.
"She'll go to York for Royal Ascot for either the Queen Anne Stakes or the Windsor Forest. We'll see how she is.
"She had been pleasing me up until she suffered the setback and she's still got time on her side."
