Fergie is staying: Queiroz
Sunday, 15 May 2005 11:52Alex Ferguson has no intention of walking away from Manchester United as a result of Malcolm Glazer's takeover, according to his Old Trafford number two Carlos Queiroz.
Speculation has been rife that the United boss could retire following the American businessman's Old Trafford coup.
However, Glazer's son Joel has already stated that Ferguson is very much part of their future plans for the club and he looks set to get his wish for the Scot to stay on.
Queiroz said: " Alex is not considering his future. That's rubbish. I have spoken to him and he is fine.
"We only have one thing in our minds, which is a good performance against Southampton and to prepare the best we can for the Cup Final. That is what's expected from us and nothing can affect our concentration and attitude.
"Our future doesn't depend on things that are not part of our business. It will depend on football. Our future is about winning trophies and our minds are concentrated on only the next two games.
"I was surprised to read the manager could stay for another five years - we all expect him to stay for 20."
