Soviet ruled out of Newbury feature

One of the stars of last season Soviet Song is to miss her seasonal reappearance in the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury after scoping dirty.

Trainer James Fanshawe had hoped to start the five-year-old off in the Group One contest but will now have to wait for the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes at the Curragh on May 21.

"We scoped Soviet Song this morning and she scoped dirty so we are not leaving her in the Lockinge,  said Fanshawe.

"It is disappointing, but apart from that she seems in good form.

We will have to play it by ear regarding what we do next, but if she scopes clean by then we should have her ready for the Ridgewood Pearl in Ireland a week later."
