Airwave heads nine Athasi runners

The EBF Athasi Stakes is the feature on an eight race card at the Curragh beginning at 2.15, and Airwave heads the list of nine declared for the Group 3 event. The high class 5yo sprinter has joined Aidan O'Brien from the Henry Candy stable, and it will be interesting to see how she copes with this step up to seven furlongs.

The daughter of Air Express filled the runner-up spot behind Pivotal Point in the Group 2 Diadem Stakes over six furlongs at Ascot last September. The Key Of Luck Woodlands Stakes is the chief supporting race, and British raider Striking Ambition may prove difficult to beat in this 5f Listed sprint.

The Roger Charlton-trained five-year-old scored over six furlongs here last autumn, and now has most to fear from Senor Benny and King Jock. The MD Betting-sponsored Jockeys Challenge adds further spice to the afternoon, with the British team captained by Frankie Dettori and also including Kevin Darley, Seb Sanders and Michael Hills.

Britain: Frankie Dettori, Hayley Turner, Seb Sanders, Eddie Ahern, John Egan, Michael Hills, Jamie Spencer, Kevin Darley

Ireland: Johnny Murtagh, Declan McDonogh, Niall McCullagh, Kieren Fallon, Fran Berry, Michael Kinane, Pat Smullen, Cathy Gannon

Betting (with sponsor MD): Britain 1/2f Ireland 6/4
