Wayne Bridge's season is over

Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a double fracture of his left ankle.

Bridge returned home last night after being carried off on a stretcher during yesterday's FA Cup fifth-round defeat at Newcastle.

The former Southampton defender fell awkwardly under a challenge from Alan Shearer and underwent an operation on the fracture earlier today.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho seemed to have made a massive error substituting three players at half-time as Bridge, Damien Duff, and William Gallas all were injured in the second-half.
