F1 on way to India
Saturday, 12 February 2005 12:30India can expect a Formula One grand prix within three years, according to the sport's commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
The Briton told the BBC that the country would definitely have a race. He said: "It's just a case of where."
Bombay was the most likely venue, said Ecclestone, although Hyderabad and Calcutta have been mooted as possible locations.
India will have its first Formula One driver this year with 28-year-old Narain Karthikeyan signing for Jordan, who have been taken over by Russian-born Canadian businessman Alex Shnaider's Midland Group.
International Automobile Federation (FIA) president Max Mosley said this week that he felt sure India would host a race if Karthikeyan went well.
